Both assignments will be presented in a blog or website. You may start a new blog/website especially for the task, or you may use an existing one. You can choose from a range of platforms including: Edublogs, Wordpress (blog platforms), Weebly, Wix (website platforms, some with blog functionality). If you haven't created a website before then Weebly is probably the easiest to use.
Assignment 1 (40%) due break week Tuesday 9am 3rd April
Part A: Map a connected learning environment to present a visual representation of a particular connected learning community that is interest-driven and peer supported. A connected learning environment is a community of active learners who share, curate and produce resources and co-create knowledge on a topic of common interest.
Here is a mini-lecture (8 mins) where I present an example of the Tiny House connected learning community (it is also embedded below). The connected learning environment should be made up of a range of nodes directed at learning about a topic of interest. As such, it should be much wider than one Facebook group or one blog, for instance. The tiny house examples gives you an indication of the breadth and depth of the CL environment.
Part B: Write a critical commentary about the connected learning environment you mapped to analyse and justify key features of the connected learning environment that you mapped in Part A. Here is a mini-lecture (8 mins) where I briefly introduce the theories and concepts you'll use to map and analyse your connected learning environment for assignment 1 (also embedded below).
Here is the Assignment 1 guide. Here is the Assignment 1 marking sheet. You can find examples of past students' work in the Assessment section of Blackboard.
